welcome to the BLINC homepage

Bristol is twinned with a region in North West Nicaragua centred around Puerto Morazan. BLINC helps to coordinate the many formal and informal links with Puerto Morazan, as well as raising money for a variety of local projects.

A Short history of BLINC...

Bristol became officially twinned with a region in NW Nicaragua in 1989, after visits from several Bristolians to the area. At the time, the country was under great threat from Contra insurgents funded by the US , as the Sandinista government attempted to turn back many decades of neglect and exploitation. BLINC was set up as a hub for the different types of support being offered by the people of Bristol at that time, and has since help raise tens of thousands of pounds in development support for the region, as well as encouragement for locals to visit here, and Bristolians to experience life and help out in the area.
